Nonprofit Technical Assistance (TA) workshops and trainings are available to nonprofit organizations in the Inland Empire to help their organizations learn not only how to work better in a work-from-home environment, but to also build capacity by leveraging financial resources, and improving core operations by improving organizational Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and many more topics.
These Technical Assistance workshops are made possible through partnerships with The California Endowment and the Inland Empire Community Foundation (IECF) Office of Policy Engagement, and the Wells Fargo Open for Business Grant.
Riverside County Nonprofit Technical Assistance
IECC is excited to announce that we have been funded by the Riverside County Nonprofit Assistance Fund to provide Technical Assistance to nonprofits in Riverside County. All organizations seeking Technical Assistance must be a registered 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(19) and provide services in at least one of the five Riverside County Supervisorial Districts. Make Your Case: Gathering and Presenting Data in Grant Proposals (Part 1)
Data enables organizations to demonstrate a need to advocate for more resources, set priorities for action, and determine where investments should take place. This two-day, hand-on training session will build foundational data literacy competency for nonprofits serving the region.
Day 1: Utilizing a free, available, credible data source, participants will learn how to pull, sort, and analyze data both graphically and in table format. Participants will receive detailed instructions on how to use this data in proposals.
These 2 1/2 hour, two-day series is a must for organizations in need of learning to use data to make the case for funding.

Data enables organizations to demonstrate a need to advocate for more resources, set priorities for action, and determine where investments should take place. This two-day, hand-on training session will build foundational data literacy competency for nonprofits serving the region.
Day 2: Participants will learn how to craft language to tell their story with data. They will leave the session with data, images, and language they can use in nearly any proposal.
These 2 1/2 hour, two-day series is a must for organizations in need of learning to use data to make the case for funding.
Demystifying Data: Simple Data Tips for Nonprofits
Is data all Greek to you? Are you having trouble understanding how to access and utilize data to make your case to receive grant funding? This session is for you. Join us for this interactive session and help your organization better find and utilize publicly available data resources while learning about the value of “good data” in painting the picture of need to prospective funders.
The use of data by nonprofits is critical to the success of any cause. Heck, data makes the world turn! Yet, many organizations do not know how to make use of data, let alone find the resources necessary to tell their story. During our workshop you will hear from experts in the field including:
- renowned fund developer Andrea Mitchel from AM Development Group,
- IECC’s GIS and Data Management Associate Brian Thomas Romo,
- Armando Mendoza from the US Census Bureau,
- Julian Cuevas from the Inland Empire Community Foundation, and
- Karla López del Río of the UCR Center for Social Innovation.

Grant Readiness a Primer
Grant Readiness Primer will give you the tools to understand what it takes to get ready to pursue grant funding. This full-day session will cover all the basics of writing proposals for grant funding. You will learn about the importance of making the case for funding, how to describe your organization, program design, evaluation, sustainability, and budgeting. Be prepared to work hard and walk away with tools to support you in your grant pursuit.

Introduction to Government Grant Writing and Advocating for Nonprofits
Have you ever wondered what it takes to receive grant funding from the government? Are you curious as to how difficult it is to manage a government grant? Is advocating for your nonprofit the same as lobbying? How does diversity, equity, and inclusion play a role in receiving government funding?
The Pursuing Government Grants and Advocacy for your Organization session will cover what you should have ready to pursue government grant funding, how to legally advocate for your organization/cause, and the importance of ensuring your organization is addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). You will leave with templates and toolboxes to prepare yourself for seeking government grant funding and advocating for your organization/cause.
