ReadyNation: Tell Governor Newsom Child Care Fuels the Economy!
Governor Newsom recently released his revised budget proposal for the 2021-2022 state budget including ample investments in children and youth, one stark absence being a lack of funding towards California’s child care system. This week, both houses of the legislature recognized this oversight and provided historic funding toward child care provider reimbursement rate reform, increasing child care spaces, and waiving family fees – making child care more affordable to California families. ReadyNation applauds the budget allocations that prioritize children and youth, including increased funding for after-school programs, investments in higher education, closing the digital divide and supporting full-service community schools. This is truly a budget that demonstrates the importance of investing in kids and families to strengthen our economy now and in the future.
