IECC receives $50,000 to establish the San Manuel Nonprofit Workforce Academy
Funds will help strengthen the nonprofit workforce in the Inland Empire
San Bernardino, CA – The Inland Empire Community Collaborative (IECC) is among the recipients of more than $12.6 million in grant funding given by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) to support crucial initiatives in the Inland Empire and across Indian Country. IECC received $50,000 to create the Nonprofit Workforce Academy to build and strengthen the Inland Empire’s nonprofit workforce and improve the quality of life for native peoples in our region.
This year, the Tribe has dedicated half of its grants to programs supporting Native American communities, highlighting their commitment to preserving cultural heritage, strengthening tribal communities, and empowering tribal nations. In demonstrating commitment to this initiative, IECC will establish a nonprofit workforce training for up to 225 staff and board members from nonprofit organizations that represent and serve marginalized communities of color. Training will focus on technology and grant development for nonprofit organizations. Since 2003, San Manuel has donated more than $400 million to causes that align with the Tribe’s giving pillars: Inspiring our Future Through Education, Empowering Lives, Reinforcing Healthy & Resilient Communities, and Preserving Cultural Traditions & Empowering Indian Country. This significant support has kicked off a year-long and highlights their profound impact on its community partners.
Susan Gomez, CEO of IECC, expressed her appreciation for the grant support. “We feel honored to partner with San Manuel to continue the work we are doing to strengthen the capacity of nonprofit organizations serving the most vulnerable communities in the Inland Empire.
